Week of September 8, 2025
Hello HVMB families! Each week we’ll share a short roundup of important announcements, reminders, and links so you don’t have to dig through multiple emails. Here’s what you need to know this week:

📅 Week of September 8 Schedule
Monday, Sept 8 | 5:30–9 PM — Practice at MHS
- Students take home uniforms. 👕
Wednesday, Sept 10 | 5:30–9 PM — Practice at MHS
- Winds/Batt/Guard: Bring instruments and equipment for Lakeland Fri/Sat.
Friday, Sept 12 | 5–9 PM — Practice & HVI Show Setup at Lakeland
- Seniors: Senior photos with Mrs. Johnson at 5 PM in the band hallway (in uniform👕).
- Full band: Test run in uniforms👕 — make sure everything is ready for Saturday.
Saturday, Sept 13 | HVI at Lakeland
- 9 AM–2:30 PM: Practice (bring lunch).
- 2:30 PM: Dismissal (return for 5:15 PM report in uniform).
- 6–8 PM: HVI Show & Awards (we perform at 7:12 PM).
- 8–9:30 PM: Clean-up and equipment load back to MHS.
👕 Uniforms, Hair & Makeup
Students will begin taking home their show uniforms this week. Please make sure they try everything on in advance and pack uniforms carefully in their garment bags. Dinkles were distributed at practice on Saturday.
- Winds & Percussion: Aqua cloak, jumpsuit, black dinkles, tall black socks, light underlayers. Handle cloaks with care (place inside a large trash bag on a hanger to prevent snagging)
- Guard: Final instructions will come directly from Savannah.
- Hair & Makeup:
- Hair must be secured in a bun if long enough to reach shoulders. See video tutorials:
- Makeup is optional, but if worn, please purchase the required eyeshadow pallet and eye liner – the makeup team will be teaching you how to apply Saturday, 9/13 at 3:30 for future performances.
- Nail polish is optional, but only standard black polish (no glitter) will be permitted for performances

🛍️ Apparel Orders
Back by popular demand! The HVMB apparel store has reopened for late orders. This is the final opportunity to purchase — the store will close on Wednesday, September 10 at midnight.
🎪 Huron Valley Invitational (HVI) — Saturday, Sept. 13
It’s show week! Here’s the plan for volunteers and families helping at LHS:
- Parking: Please park in the LHS pool lot. Do not park in the stadium or front lots. If weather forces a change, updates will be sent via email.
- Check-In: Report to the front atrium upon arrival to sign in, grab a name tag, and collect your worker packet.
- Set-Up: Friday night and Saturday morning helpers, please connect with Alan Irvine for assignments.

📣Reminder: Every family is expected to have at least one representative at HVI to meet volunteer commitments and avoid the opt-out fee. Thank you for helping make this event a success!

- Sat 9/20: Novi Invite (tent. 9 am report; 7:26 pm performance)
- Fri 9/26: 🏈 LHS Homecoming (report 4:45 pm, parade 5:15, halftime show)
- Sat 9/27: Practice 9 am–12 pm (MHS)
- NEW Banquet Date: Saturday, Dec. 13 at 4 pm (Lakeland Café)
