Attendance & Absences

Learn about rehearsal requirements, reporting absences, and how attendance affects participation in performances.

What is the practice schedule like?

All practices will be added to the Ensembles Calendar and should be checked regularly for updates. The band practices rain or shine, but typically practice will be moved indoors during rain. All rehearsals are mandatory, including:

  • Summer wind, percussion, and guard sectionals (May–July)
  • Pre-Camp, Band Camp, and Post-Camp in July–August
  • Regular season rehearsals:
    • Mondays 5:30–9:00 pm, Wednesdays 5:30–9:00 pm,
    • Fridays for select home games, and Saturdays for shows.
How do I report a pre-arranged absence or tardiness?

The registration packet will include a page to report any known absences (family vacations, etc). After submission of that packet, notify Mr. Green by email or phone 2 weeks in advance.

What if a student is sick or injured?

Notify Mr. Green by email or phone before the start of practice. Consecutive absences (2+ days) due to illness may require a doctor’s note. Minor injuries that allow observation or limited participation should still attend practice.

What are the consequences of unexcused absences or tardies?
  • Any unexcused absence may result in sitting out the next performance.
  • Multiple unexcused tardies (2+) may also result in missing a performance.
  • Multiple excused absences may result in sitting out if safety or preparation is a concern.
  • Three unexcused absences may result in removal from the marching band.
