Couple of Updates for the 2 Weeks or so

Greetings HVMB
Just a couple of updates for the 2 weeks or so that I wanted to get out to you all at this time

This week

  1. Final Post Camp is tomorrow 5-30 – 9 pm at MHS. Students need to make arrangements to take instruments home for the weekend and bring them back for next Wednesday, our first official evening practice of the school year.
  2. Football Game this Thursday is for MHS Pep Band and any other MB students who want to come help out -). We are going to take it very slow the first game and go from there of course! My goal is for the band to always sound their best and have fun at the games.
    For this Thursday, we will be playing the following-
    MHS Fight song in tunnel
    National Anthem on 50 yard line
    Pep music in stands for game 1 – Eat Em Up, Let’s Go, Dr. NO, 7 Nation Army.

We will be adding in the other songs (Louie, Louie, Final Countdown, and Smoke on the Water for future games).

REPORT FOR THE GAME IS 6 pm
DRESS for the game is- MHS gear, or MHS COLORS (red/burgundy, or neutral colors – gray/black/white).
We will meet at the band room, spot check the music, line up, and head to the stadium.
GAME END IS APPROX. 9-15 pm (we will finish back at the band room)…ALL INSTRUMENTS need to go home at that time.

***Please note – Front Ensemble and Color Guard students can always join us to cheer on the team/band, but you are not expected to be there if you aren’t playing an instrument with us. I will work individually to get anyone in front ensemble involved for future games, but we won’t be adding anyone this week to battery that isn’t already in that section.

Next week-

  1. Monday – 9/6 NO PRACTICE due to Labor Day
  2. Wednesday – 9/8 5-30 – 9 pm at MHS
  3. Saturday – 9/11 9 am – 5 pm at MHS (PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE HERE FOR THE DAY…critical day for us!!!) Bring a bag lunch. SENIORS – we will be going to Press and Scoop for ice cream at the end of practice that day at 5 pm -)

Updates beyond next week-

  1. Monday, 9/13 – SENIORS – we have banner pictures scheduled that day for you all, and we need you to come in at 4 pm please for this very important photo shoot! (Please see separate email regarding the banners that band is purchasing for our wonderful class of 2022!!!). Seniors, please plan to be here that day at 4 – 5-30 for the photo shoot (bring something to eat) so you can eat, change, and be ready for practice at 5-30 pm. THANK YOU ALL FOR HELPING WITH THIS!!!
  2. Our first Football Game as the HVMB will be at Lakeland on September 17th. MORE INFO SOON ON THIS, but we will be performing a portion of the show at halftime. THIS IS FOR ALL OF THE HVMB. The Lakeland pep band will be playing all game as well as their first game. More to follow.
  3. Our first competition is Saturday, September 18 at SPARTA HS. We don’t have finalized times yet, but as soon as we do I will notify you. Tickets for all local shows can be purchased at the show at the gate. You don’t have to pre-purchase them. We will likely be performing between 4 – 5 pm, but I will update as soon as I know. The day will be very short here at MHS that morning, and we need to have a great first showing!
